HOT TIPS TO EARN MORE COMMISSIONS AS AN AMBASSADOR

You’ve been accepted into our Ambassador Program, that’s so dope! But...now what? Making that first “promotional post” can be intimidating for sure, let us help you out with that. This guide will cover FTC guidelines, how to use your code and link, and things we recommend doing to help increase your commissions.

For tips on what makes a good photo, check out our article on Kick Ass Content. If you need any help making your posts or want feedback on your images email us at models@lettershoppe.com

DON’T FORGET ABOUT THOSE PESKY ADVERTISING FTC REQUIREMENTS

Most brands don’t give a fuck about this but, the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) is the big guy in charge of all things ✨advertising✨ and the last thing we want is for anyone to ever get into any trouble promoting us. You are required to disclose the nature of the relationship between you and us in EVERY. SINGLE. POST. But how does one disclose properly exactly?

Adding tags like #ad, #sponsored, #ambassador are NOT qualifiers under the updated FTC guidelines as of 2019 even though that is what you see everyone else doing.

This means that you have to state clearly in a way that any reasonable consumer can understand that you are earning a commission from any purchases made with your unique link. It can be a little rough to do this authentically, so here’s an example:

To help nail it every time, use this template for writing captions:

[Describe your personal experience with the product]

[Call to Action (i.e. mention the link in your bio and the monthly discount code)

[Authentic disclosure about earning commission]

[Product details (i.e. size you’re wearing, design name, product price, etc.)

[Appropriate hashtags]

GIVE THE PEOPLE THE PRODUCT DETAILS STRAIGHT UP

The best way to promote a product is to describe your authentic experience with it. What is it that you like about the piece? How does it make you feel? What about the design sticks out to you? Talking about cannabis culture, mental health awareness, and/or self-love is highly recommended!

Here at Letter Shoppe, we take just as much pride in transparent sizing as the topics in the designs. Always be sure to include what size you’re wearing, title of the design, and item price in your posts.

Every month, we’ll send you a 10% off promo code to share with your friends to your email. Be sure to include that discount code in any posts as well as keeping your unique link in your bio so people can easily click on it. If you have other things you’re working on and need multiple links in your bio, here are some landing page apps we recommend:

PROMOTIONAL TIPS TO HELP YOU EARN EVEN MORE COMMISSIONS

We all know that hashtags can help get your posts exposure, but most people are just straight up using them wrong. Using 10 or more ON TOPIC tags to boost your post actually helps get it seen by the right people. Try to keep them on topic with the actual artwork: think less #apparel and more #mentalhealth.

Take a look at these tags for instance. They draw attention to the subject matter of the design, not just that it’s a cute hoodie. Why is this better? Because your image will be shown to people who actually care about what you have to say, which means they’re more likely to actually stop and interact with your page.

On average, only about 3% of the people who follow will actually see your post; adding hashtags can help with that, as will promoting the same product a couple of times, not just once. It can seem a bit spammy if you post too much, so 2-3 posts max per month that are spread out should work out nicely.

Another cool algorithm hack is to post photos in the tall ratio so it fills up more on peoples phone while also using the carousel feature! This gives you the opportunity to feature the design in a full body outfit AND a close up while also giving an extra engagement for Instagram to track and boost you for.

Just make sure that the first image is a nice close up showing the artwork clearly so people are more likely to swipe through them. Every time someone swipes to see more photos, it shows the post to more of your audience since you are increasing your view time.

The more people who see your promotional content, the more opportunities you have to earn that commission! We WANT you to succeed!
